What can you expect from a Wine Adventure?

Many of us reached for a glass (or bottle) of wine during the pandemic. They have been (and continue to be) unprecedented times with a heap of uncertainty around what the future will bring. For me personally, the restrictions on travel impacted me deeply. I had spent previous years gallivanting around the globe, indulging in food and wine along the way. I'm sure I was not the only one who felt a bit lost..

I’d been studying wine for the a few years and it made realise how intimidating and inaccessible wine can be. We aren’t taught about wine so how are we supposed to navigate it? HK Wine Adventures was born.

Why are they called Wine Adventures?

I wanted curiosity and exploration to be encouraged, just as it would through travel. The themes I develop are to broaden horizons and also challenge the rules that are often set around wine.

The rules and biases are endless:

  • Old World is superior to New World

  • Wine is only worth drinking if it has a Vivino score of 4 and above

  • Wine in anything other than a bottle is not worth drinking

I could go on.

Strip away the marketing (and bullshit), it can be enlightening to explore our tastes and truly understand what we like as well as dislike.

What can you expect from a Wine Adventure?

Fun!

I create my own materials for the Adventures and use games / activities throughout the session. The food is curated to fit the theme of the event, think Monster Munch, Pumpkin Pies, no stuffy food and wine pairings here. Questions and discussions are encouraged. All you need to bring is a thirst for wine, food and knowledge!

How will you feel after a Wine Adventure?

My mission is that people leave a Wine Adventure feeling:

  • Empowered

  • Confident

  • Excited

  • Curious

  • Merrier
