Picking Wine for Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year is just around the corner, so time to think about wine for your celebrations. Here are some ideas for wines to try during the holiday season.

  • Sparkling Wine - Traditional Method wines such as Champagne, Cremant, MCCs, or English Sparkling are great for a celebration. They are delicious and food friendly. If you want a hint of sweetness, check out an Extra Sec / Sec.

  • White - Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc can be divisive so why not try a Chenin Blanc or Riesling instead.

  • Red - Pinot Noir or Gamay are crowd pleasers not too heavy, lighter tannins and they go with a range of foods.

  • Sweet Wine - for those of you who prefer a sweeter wine, why not try a Tawny Port or Medium Dry / PX Sherry instead?
